General

  1. Your membership card benefits apply across all Teignbridge Leisure Facilities and must be presented at reception or scanned on the access gates on every visit.

    • A photo will be taken and held on our Leisure Management System.

  2. All activities are subject to availability and Teignbridge Leisure reserve the right to cancel, amend, suspend or withdraw classes and/or activities at any time. Opening hours may vary around holiday periods.

  3. Credit Notes: Valid for 12 months. 

  4. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable regardless of the Member's usage of the facilities during the membership period.

  5. Facilities may become unavailable, e.g. due to adverse weather or planned maintenance etc. These will be advertised prior to closure where possible, and you will be encouraged to use our alternative facilities. 

    • Refunds will not be made if other facilities are available unless the closure exceeds a 2-week period.

  6. Teignbridge Leisure reserves the right to amend the Terms & Conditions. However, we will give reasonable notice.

  7. We operate under the Health Commitment Statement.

  8. Customers are responsible for their personal belongings while using the facilities.

Concessionary Categories 

  1. If you are receiving a membership concession, you will need to validate this every 6 months by providing evidence of current continued entitlement as follows:

    • Full time Students 16 years old plus - Official confirmation of full time education. (NUS Card does not apply) (Household status does not apply)

    • Eligibility for concessionary rate – that you are in receipt of any of the following benefits:

      • Children in care (evidence: letter from social worker)

      • Council Tax Support

      • Disability living allowance

      • Foster carers (evidence: Devon County Council ID badge)

      • Housing benefit

      • Income related employment and support allowance

      • Income support

      • Income-based job seekers allowance

      • Pension credit, Personal independence payment

      • Students 16+ (evidence: Official confirmation of full time education)

      • Universal credit (take home pay less than £435.00 per month).

      • Unless stated evidence of an award letter dated within the last 3 months supported with a bank statement is required for concession eligibility. 

        • A £5 charge will be applied every 6 months to all Pay As You Go concession accounts. 

Joining 

  1. The Direct Debit agreement is a legally binding contract between you and Teignbridge Leisure.

  2. A joining fee is payable when taking out a membership. If you cancel and wish to re-join at a later date, you will be required to pay the fee again.

  3. Direct Debit memberships have zero contracts providing you with full membership flexibility. 

  4. Direct Debits will automatically continue until you cancel or freeze.

  5. Our 12-month package (Annual) offers you the best value with one month free (12 for 11 months) and no joining fee, which is paid as a one-off payment.

  6. The temporary membership is valid for a duration of one month from the date of activation.

    1. Payment must be made in full prior to the activation of the membership.

    2. The membership will automatically expire at the end of the one-month period.

  7. Direct Debit will be taken on the 1st working day of the month.

  8. Membership Packages purchased on or after the 1st April 2024, may incur an annual increase, and the updated fees will be applicable to all memberships.

Being a Member 

  1. Members must provide accurate and complete information during the sign up process  and keep records up to date during their time as a member.

  2. When a Junior member reaches the age of 16, the Direct Debit membership continues automatically changing to a full price Adult package. The Direct Debit amount is amended to reflect this unless you notify us to cancel the membership or that you are eligible for a concessionary rate.

  3. A £12.50 charge will be made for all failed Direct Debit collections.

  4. Failure to pay all applicable charges will result in debt recovery actions being invoked.

  5. Members are expected to adhere to a code of conduct promoting a positive and respectful environment.

  6. Any misuse or inappropriate behaviour may result in the suspension or termination of membership without refund.

Freezing 

  1. You can freeze your membership for any reason. Freeze confirmations will be confirmed within 5 working days. 

  2. The freeze can start at any point of the month for the whole month. You can freeze for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 6 months. For example 23rd January to the 22nd February (1 month freeze).

  3. Please submit your freeze request form 5 working days before your required start / extension date. 

  4. Your membership will automatically unfreeze and revert to your monthly rate on the date specified on your confirmation email.

  5. If you wish to unfreeze your account before your freeze end date, please email leisurememberships@teignbridge.gov.uk with your new return date, your full name and date of birth.

  6. The Direct Debit must not be cancelled during your freeze period.  

  7. A membership freeze fee will be charged at £5 per month (applies to membership packages purchased from 2017). For example: Direct Debit members will automatically be charged £5 per month for the duration of the freeze.

  8. Annual members will be charged the full fee at the time of the freeze request confirmation. For example, freeze for 3 months at £5 per month, equals £15 to pay. This can be paid off via your My Profile Account.

  9. Any outstanding debts must be paid before a freeze can take place.

  10. If your account is in a pending or inactive status, please contact reception.

Cancelling

  1. From signing, there is a 14 day cooling off period where you may cancel this agreement. (Initial set up fees are non-refundable. Facilities can be accessed for the period of time you have paid for)

  2. Notice of cancellation must be given and made prior to the 20th of the month. You must not cancel the Direct Debit instruction until this notice period has expired as all payments due within the notice period must be made. It is your responsibility to ensure you have given Teignbridge Leisure effective notice.

    1. All memberships will run to the last day of the month.
  3. Notice of cancellations can be requested through your my profile account, via email to Leisuremeberships@teignbridge.gov.uk or in person at reception. The cancellation is a request and will be processed by our leisure admin team. 

  4. Annual memberships can only be refunded at the discretion of the Leisure Manager.

Attendance and fair usage 

  1. All leisure users are encouraged to pre-book their activity via their My Profile Account or the App. 

    • Once pre-booked, users must self-swipe to attend their activity at the access gates. 

  2. All leisure users who fail to attend and/or cancel within 4 hours on three occasions within a 30 day period will lose their booking privileges for a month.

  3. When booked into a class or activity, you must arrive for the advertised start time; otherwise, you may lose your place. Instructors reserve the right to refuse entry to late arrivals.

  4. Notice of cancellation must be given at least 4 hours prior to the booking otherwise a fee will be retained for Pay As You Go members (PAYG) and applied to members’ accounts at the standard price of the activity.

  5. Teignbridge Leisure reserve the right to limit class attendees when 2 of the same classes are consecutive in the timetable and the demand outweighs available capacity.

  6. A gym induction must be completed prior to usage of the Fitness Suites. Experienced users can complete the online gym induction via our website or app. A Face-to-face gym induction is available. 

  7. Last entry no later than 30 minutes before closure.

Refer a friend 

  1. A free month(s) is applied when your friend signs up for a direct debit or annual membership. 

  2. The free month(s) will be applied once the friend has had their first direct debit collected.

    • Annual members will be applied at the end of the term. 

  3. There is no limit on the number of referrals you can make.
