Teignbridge Leisure App.We are excited to announce the introduction of gate access to our leisure centres! 

The gate access system will provide our customers and staff with a safer and more secure environment. It is important to inform you of the details of this change and how it will affect your experience with us. Essentially there is no difference to what you are already doing – Instead of self-swiping at reception, you will swipe at the gate! 

How does this impact you?

  • If you enjoy the following activities, you can pre-book them: 
    • Gym
    • Lane Swimming
    • Exercise Classes (pool-based and dry-side)
    • Sauna and steam
    • Squash courts
  • These activities can be pre-booked and you can self-swipe at the gate to gain access to the centre - this will also attend you to your activity. For example, if you're a gym user, this can be as simple as pre-booking as you enter the building. 
  • Once your activity is booked. You can self-swipe at the gate with your member card or app. This will then open the gates for you to gain entry!
  • If you use our app, you can use the in-app card. This will be available in the next few days. On your app home screen, you will notice a button that says 'card' appear. This is your new card to gain access to the centre. 
  • If you do not use our app, you will be given a new member card. 

We understand that this change may take some getting used to, but it will ultimately provide you with a more convenient and secure experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please read on for our frequently asked questions or speak with a team member on your next visit.

If you enjoy the following activities, you can pre-book them and swipe through the gates:

As a user of our booking system, you can also book: 

    • Fun swims
    • General swim + Lane
    • Aqua runs
    • Family Swims

These activities can be booked on our app or through your My Profile Account on our website. 

If your activity is not listed, please visit reception or call us to book.

That's fine! We understand that not everyone can pre-book their activity online. If this is the case, you can visit reception on your next visit or call us to book.

Once your activity is booked, you can swipe through the gate with your member card.

There are several ways you can swipe through the gates:

  1. App | If you use our app you can use the in-app member card. 
  2. Member card | You will need to collect a new member card from reception if you do not have the app. 
    1. Please keep this card safe as you will need this each time you need to gain access. 
  3. Once you have pre-booked your activity and as you approach the gates, have your card ready and hold on the gate scanner. This will automatically open the gate. 

If you do not have a card or the app or have difficulty gaining access you can report to reception. 

There are several ways you can swipe through the gates:

  1. App | If you use our app you can use the in-app member card. 
  2. Member card | You will need to collect a new member card from reception if you do not have the app. 
    1. Please keep this card safe as you will need this each time you need to gain access.
    2. Your first card is free. If you misplace the card the replacement card will be charged at the standard fees and charges rate.

Charges can be paid for on the app or your My Profile Account. If the issue persists, please call or report to reception. 

Yes, the gate will attend you to your pre-booked activity and allow access. This includes back to back pre-booked activities so only one swipe is needed. 

If you book into an activity once you've swiped through the gates, please re-swipe at the gates or report to reception to attend you to your activity you have booked. For example, you've received an email about a space on our waiting lists for a class but you're currently in the gym. Book the class and swipe back at the gates or visit reception. 

We encourage everyone to pre-book their activity with us. However, we understand not everyone can book online. If you haven't pre-booked, please report to reception. 

If you're booking more than one activity that takes place back to back. The gate will attend you to your activities pre-booked up to that swipe and allow access. This includes back to back activities so only one swipe is needed. If you book an activity once you've swiped / passed through the gates, you will need to report to reception to attend you to the activity.

We understand pre-booking your gym session can be difficult due to work patterns etc. All you have to do is pre-book once you've parked up and swipe through the gate - it's that simple! 

Our teams will be on site to support you once the gates have been installed. The plan is to have a gate open for swimming lesson swimmers to enter and exit - swimmers do not need to swipe for their lesson.

Spectators will be able to go through the gate with their children and continue to the spectator areas.

  • If you use our facilities (e.g. gym or exercise classes) whilst your child is in their swimming lesson, please continue to pre-book your session and swipe at the gate.

Squash

You will not notice any major changes! The only change is apart from swiping at reception you will swipe at the gate.

Please continue to pre-book your squash court on our app or website.

Court Hire

If you're looking to hire a court and play badminton, table tennis or pickleball. Please call us or visit reception to book your court.

Please continue to pre-book your sauna and steam room on our app or website.

Important: If using the sauna and steam rooms at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre and you use the app to gain access through the main gates at reception, you will need a physical member card to gain access to the second scanner on the sauna and steam room door.
